I came across this group the other day (in loving memory of Melissa Toh: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=121170341232607). I don’t personally know the girl but the feelings that her friends and family are going through have been felt. This young, beautiful girl took the life of her own one Wednesday morning due to her boyfriend leaving her.
This is a tragedy that has striked the hearts of many Singaporeans, and I am pretty sure many have loved and lost someone in their lifetime before. We feel for her family and for her friends, and for all who loved her.
She has gone on to a better place, one perhaps much better than this. May her soul rest in peace.
And this serves a lesson to everyone else, that life is short. Treasure those around you, remember the people that made you, and believe in the things that built you. You can’t control what goes on around you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t show love.
Everyone has problems, but not everyone knows how to handle it. I have read on the internet, some of Melissa’s detractors on her taking her own life and I wonder one thing.. WHY? Why are there still some people who have no sence of compassion.
Yes in Singapore, attempting suicide is a crime. Yes it is wrong to do so. But what gives you detractors the right to decide that she is weak or useless… Furthermore, what gives you the right just because you are a mother to say so?!
People who take their own lives aren’t weak. Instead they are just lost people who have no idea who to turn to. So instead of constantly berating those who have, instead DO SOMETHING to prevent more from happening!
As for the late Melissa Toh, whatever h appened could have been prevented, but it has happened. I may not have known you at all but you have taught me a lesson: and that is to love those around me and to not turn my back against those who need me.
